The 1969 Le Mans was a motor race held on June 14 and 15, 1969, at the Circuit de la Sarthe, Le Mans, France. It was the 37th edition of the race, and was contested by 51 teams. The overall winners of the race were Jacky Ickx and Jackie Oliver driving a Ford GT40. This was the second year in a row that the Ford GT40 had won at Le Mans. The race also saw a tragic accident involving John Woolfe, who died from injuries sustained in a crash during the first lap. The 69 Le Mans is considered one of the most iconic races in motorsport history and is remembered for the epic battle between the Ford and Porsche teams.
